The app is currently in closed testing.
Bugs:
- (Fixed in version 0.0.3) Shared Google Earth KML files do not follow the correct format and cannot be loaded into Google Earth.
- (Fixed in version 0.0.2) Sharing tracks as GeoJSON is not working.
The Location Tracker app records the location of the device it runs on over time. It can export the track as GeoJSON or Google Earth KML for visualisation in third-party apps or websites.
For the app testers only: Find the app on Google Play
The app requires precise location access and notification permissions. The data is recorded locally and only shared by initiative of the user. (See the privacy policy.)
Important notes:
- When tracking, the location of the device is recorded every second. This implies a higher battery usage.
- The precision of the recording will depend on several factors. Altitude is known for being less precise than longitude and latitude. Moreover, the altitude may be recorded with an offset.
- When exporting a track as Google Earth KML, a copy is stored in the cache. This copy is not deleted after the track is shared. The cache can be safely cleared from the App Info page.
